|Taken Name||Gracious O'Callahan|
|Magic||Adept, similar to Mr Bliss|
|Faction||The Monster Hunters, The Irish Sanctuary|
Gracious O'Callahan is an Irish monster hunter and top-class sniper, who along with his best friend, Donegan Bane, wrote Monster Hunting for Beginners, and its sequels, Monster Hunting for Beginners is Probably Inadvisable, and Seriously, Dude, Stop Monster Hunting.
He travels to Chicago and Germany with Dexter’s team on their quest to get the God-Killer weapons, only to obtain Tanith’s replicas. Oblivious to their misleading, it is realised after the Maleficent Seven’s attack on Donegan’s stolen private jet that they are fakes.
The team rush to the English Sanctuary and sneak their way in, but run into the Maleficent Seven, then the Sanctuary officials. Fortunately, Tanith distracts the officials with a zombie-like virus and it’s up to the two teams to take the sword first. Sanguine manages to acquire it and escapes by tunneling. In the end, all are arrested, but Dexter’s team are freed soon after.
He and Donegan are later assigned to disable the Midnight Hotel with Sanguine and Tanith, but are forced to hide when the mission fails and Mantis sends mages after them.
Later, he and his partner accompany Fletcher to Mexico, where they talk about Fletcher's powers and their plans of writing a new book with Fletcher as the illustrator. Gracious was the one who contacted Ajuoga, but she captures Fletcher in the end.
In the Battle of Roarhaven, he tries to take on Charivari, but is defeated. Once the battle was over he and Donegan were assigned to search for the supercharged sorcerers.
He, Donegan, Dexter Vex, Saracen Rue, Dai Maybury and Fletcher were searching for the unstable sorcerers, until they were informed that the Remnants have been set free again. They are then assigned to capture the Remnants. Gracious was not seen when Darquesse destroyed Roarhaven, implying he might be injured due to the destruction. He is not mentioned for the rest of the book.
Powers and Abilities
As a contrast to Bane being tall, thin and dark, O'Callahan is stocky, with a strong build. He also is less quiet, reserved and serious than Bane, coming up with wild plans that might not work. He also almost always carries around a gun, despite being strongly advised or ordered not to by his best friend and partner, Donegan Bane.
