Mirk briefed Operatives that serial killer and sorcerer Silas Nadir was loose and had kidnapped Susie Pearce. He also announced that detectives Skulduggery Pleasant and Valkyrie Cain were missing and the case had fallen to the Operatives to solve.

Following Mirk’s instructions, the Operatives were sent to speak to a Troll.

When the Operatives find Susie Pearce she reveals that Mirk is The Masked Necromancer. After a brief battle Mirk is defeated
